Right now the Port of Mahahual is very private. The port authorities have a gate at its entrance and they do not welcome anyone who has not arrived by ship. If you have traveled by car to Mahahual you will probably not get in. Just outside the gate however is an area that is being built up with shops and restaurants. We will advise on the progress of this area on our next trip.
